OceanicAngler Surface Splash Lure – Topwater Wake Bait
19.99$
A surface lure for active water, bait lifts, and shoreline edges where fish are already looking up. Fish it with sharp pauses, short sweeps, or a steady wake when you want a visible topwater target.
Complete the setup
Do Not Buy Gear In Isolation.
The strongest setup starts with the fishing moment: water type, target species, structure, line choice, terminal tackle, and how long you will be exposed to salt, sun, and spray.
Pair hooks, leader, tools, and lures with the structure and target species before the cart fills up.
02 / Session Build A KitGroup the small pieces that make a trip work: spare leaders, compact storage, lure choice, and backup tools.
03 / Exposure Add Sun CoverageRound out the setup with low-bulk protection for glare, spray, heat, and longer exposed bite windows.
Description
Topwater For Water That Is Already Talking.
The Surface Splash Lure is built for the moments when the water gives you clues: bait flicking near the bank, small boils along a current seam, or reef and estuary fish pushing feed toward the surface. This is not the subtle option you tie on when everything is dead quiet. It is the lure you reach for when you want commotion, flash, and a target that stays in the strike zone long enough for a fish to commit.
Use it around shore lanes, reef flats, channel edges, boat ramps, wharf lights, and current lines where predators are tracking bait near the top. A few short rod-tip pops can make it spit and push water, while a slower retrieve lets it wake across the surface. When fish swipe and miss, pause it instead of ripping it away. That hanging second often turns a follow into a real strike.
Build The Topwater Setup
This lure fits best on a clean topwater setup. Pair it with 100m Braided PE Line for direct contact, then add Fluorocarbon Leader Line when the water is clear or fish are leader-shy. If the bite is more aggressive or you want a second surface look, rotate it with the Prop-Tail Topwater Lure Kit. If the bait is smaller, downshift to the Mini Minnow Hard Bait Set and match the hatch more closely.
Keep The Hardware Ready
Keep Aluminum Fishing Pliers in reach for quick hook removal on surface strikes, especially when fish hit close to the rocks, boat, or landing net. If you fish saltwater often, inspect your trebles after each session and refresh worn points with Anti-Rust Treble Hooks before the next trip.
